Senior Kenton Kirkpatrick awarded NSF Graduate Research Fellowship

Aerospace Engineering Senior Kenton Kirkpatrick of Friendswood, TX, has been named a Graduate Research Fellow by the National Science Foundation. He will start his graduate studies in the Aerospace Engineering Department in Fall 2007.

The Graduate Research Fellowship provides three years of support for graduate study leading to research-based master’s or doctoral degrees and is intended for students who are at the early stages of their graduate study. The Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) invests in graduate education for a cadre of diverse individuals who demonstrate their potential to successfully complete graduate degree programs in disciplines relevant to the mission of the National Science Foundation. The Graduate Research Fellowship provides $30,000 for a 12-month tenure period, in addition to a cost of education allowance of $10,500 per tenure year, for a period of three consecutive years. Fellows are also allowed an additional one-time $1,000 International Research Travel Allowance.
