The McElmurry Award is given by SGT every year to the professor whom the students feel has most positively impacted their careers. The winner is chosen strictly by students and anyone in Aero 401/402 is eligible to vote. The winner this year was Professor Leland Carlson.

The award recognizes winning professors “for exemplifying dedication and commitment to developing students professionally and academically by displaying a desire for students to succeed, creatively presenting classroom material, and offering opportunities for mentorship and guidance outside the classroom in the Aerospace Engineering Department at Texas A&M University.”
