Dr. Dale Cope (right), a program manager in the Structural Engineering Department (Mechanical Engineering Division, 18),
describes testing under way for a U.S. Air Force project during a tour of the Large Structures Lab conducted for aerospace
engineering students from Texas A&M University. The half-day visit included lunch, a tour of Materials Engineering Department
labs and technical presentations. Other SwRI participants were Manager Dr. Kent Coulter (Div. 18), Specialist Amanda
Gonzales (Human Resources), Institute Scientist Dr. Dick Page (Div. 18), Manager Dr. Carl Popelar (Div. 18), Senior Engineering
Technologist Mike Stange (Aerospace Electronics, Systems Engineering and Training Division, 09), Director Dr. Ben Thacker
(Div. 18) and Principal Engineer Dr. Phil Valek (Space Science and Engineering Division, 15). The visit was coordinated by the
Communications Department.
